R.I.P. Dennis Farina: His Most Memorable TV Roles

Hollywood is mourning the death of legendary TV and film actor Dennis Farina, who died today at the age of 69. His rep said in a statement that he was "always warmhearted and professional, with a great sense of humor and passion for his profession," a sentiment we wholeheartedly agree with.
Farina leaves behind a legacy of iconic movie roles (SnatchGet Shorty and Midnight Run, to name just a few), but he was also a favorite of the small screen. From a detective who wasn't afraid to be flashy to the world's slickest father, here are Farina's most memorable turns on television:

1. Albert Lombard, Miami Vice (1984-1989): On the cult classic Miami Vice, Farina played Albert "Al" Lombard, a crime boss who ran every kind of gambling operation. From poker, roulette, blackjack, cockfights and shirtless brawls, Albert was one member of the Librizzi empire that you did not want to mess with. However, in the end Farina's character had a change of heart and he agreed to help the Miami Vice team to bring down Librizzi, even though it meant he had to die in the process.

2. Detective Joe Fontana, Law & Order, (2004-2006): After Jerry Orbach passed away in 2004, Farina was brought on to replace his character: the legendary Lennie Briscoe. Joe Fontana was a transfer from the Chicago Police Department, a nod to Farina's Windy City roots. The detective was unlike other Law & Order folks, because he wasn't afraid to be flashy. He loved tailored suits and drove a Mercedes around the streets of NYC. Who says you have to look dull while chasing down perps?

3. Gus Demitriou, Luck (2011-2012): Though the show only lasted one season (it was canceled due to controversy surrounding the death of three horses), Farina managed to use the short timeframe wisely and gave us another standout performance. As Ace's (Dustin Hoffman) longtime driver and all-around gofer, Gus held titles ranging from registered horse owner to (spoiler alert!) murderer.

4. Walt Miller, New Girl (2013): Farina was a fan favorite parent in the New Girl loft playing Walt, Nick Miller's (Jake Johnson) dad, and a silver-haired fox/con-man. He and Nick were not always on the best of terms, but luckily they patched things up before Walt passed away at the end of Season two. Despite their rocky relationship, Walt left his son with some truly amazing advice before he passed: "I want to make sure that you don't miss out on the things in life that are happening when you're not thinking. Because, believe you me, those are the best things in life."

True Blood's Tragic Death: Are You Surprised?

Spoiler Alert: We're talking about the big True Blood death tonight, so if you don't want to know that Anna Paquin was killed off, stop reading.
Joooookes.
But really, though, we are going to say who died.

RIP, Terry Bellefleur.
True Blood teased more than a month ago that a major death was coming, but very few (if any) fans predicted accurately that Terry (Todd Lowe) would be the one to go.
Tonight, in perhaps one of the most sob-inducing scenes in True Blood history, the poor war vet, who had put out a hit on himself because he had a death wish, died in the arms of Arlene (Carrie Preston) as she sang him a lullaby.
We knew the death was coming and still promptly took our proper stance in the fetal position, rocking ourselves and shaking, which makes this story just a wee bit hard to write.
SCOOP: Get all the latest interviews, photos and video on True Blood
Terry had finally shook all of the demons out of his head, as his devoted wife Arlene found a way to erase all of his painful war memories, and we saw a lightness to his character never before seen on the show.
And then he died. Because a show like this doesn't let anyone experience true happiness like that without true (ratings-inducing) consequences. Because True Blood is like that bad, abusive boyfriend who you know is no good for you, but you somehow can't quit.
Fan theories ranged about who True Blood's big death would be, with most rumors pointing to Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). There were even rumblings it might be Eric (Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd), which, no offense to the fantastic work of Todd Lowe, would have been a show killer.
Will you miss Terry? When you stop rocking yourself in the fetal position, feel free to post your thoughts in our comments section. Sigh. Trubie group hug?

Tom Cruise has allegedly written an ‘emotional’ letter to his ex-wife Katie Holmes

The 50-year-old actor is hoping to re-establish a bond with his ex-wife - who filed for divorce with no warning last summer - and is reported to have penned her a heartfelt letter in the hopes of resolving tension and moving on with his life.

A source told LOOK magazine: "I think it's something Tom's been thinking about a lot recently, but especially as July was approaching. It's like he's finally recognised that Katie will always be the love of his life.

"It was such a shock when she left him - although she would no doubt argue that he ignored the signs - terms with that decision but I think Tom finally understand why she had to end things.

"It's taken a long time for him to come to and let go of the anger, but it seems like he finally has and he obviously will have wanted to tell her that."

The former couple - who reportedly only communicate via intermediaries - are said to have attempted to call a truce in March, but have barely exchanged words since. Thrice-divorced Tom is now more determined than ever to rekindle his friendship with Katie for the sake of their seven-year-old daughter Suri - who he sees regularly.

Discussing the difficulty of arranging visitation plans for Tom to see Suri, the source added: "Tom obviously desperately wants that to change. I'm sure, as well as telling her how he feels.

"That'll have been a huge motivation behind the letter. It's about getting their relationship on better terms."

Angelina Jolie admits Brangelina may not have happened if she got her hands on Colin Farrell

New Year, new batch of silly celeb stories.  Let’s kick off 2013 with the latest Colin Farrell rumor, and it’s a biggie – Perez Hilton’s site breathlessly reported on Friday afternoon that the twin-headed beast known as Brangelina would never have happened if Angelina Jolie had her way.

For it’s Colin, and not Brad Pitt, who was Angie’s first choice for life partner and baby daddy Perez reported, citing “whispers around Tinsel Town” as his source.

Visit Colin Farrell's profile page here

The two first met on the set of the Oliver Stone turkey Alexander back in 2005, and Angie was “desperately infatuated” with her Irish leading man, Perez says.

“Every week they were sleeping together, with her feelings for him growing stronger and stronger. But, like the playboy he is, it's rumored that he was sexin' all the other ladies around too. And her emotions were NOT reciprocated!” the site reported.

Colin stuck to business on the promotion trail for Alexander and stayed away from Angie, who’s next film turned out to be Mr. and Mrs. Smith, where she got her hooks into the married Pitt. And we all know what happened next.

Perez opined, “Sometimes you gotta feel that crazy rush of firecrackin' chemistry and rejection before realizing what you really want as a mature adult. So maybe that's what happened when she got with Pitt. But either way, HOOOOOO-LY SHIZ!”

Indeed.  But we can’t see Angelina responding to the gossip one way or another, and Colin ain’t gonna own up to anything, either. He went on to have two sons of his own with two different girlfriends

"I'm sure you could actually see those pictures of me being, like, way stressed out about it," she said. "And it's hard, because what do you do? Do you just wanna sit in your house and hide and not go anywhere?"

With the 20-year-old's romantic status with Bieber still in question, (a source tells Us that she and the 19-year-old "Believe" singer are "not necessarily officially back on but hooking up again for sure"), Gomez says that she's ready to concentrate on more fun things -- like finally moving out of her mom and stepdad's house! (Mandy and Brian Teefey just welcomed Gomez's half-sister, Gracie, in June).
"I think it's time," she told Seacrest about moving out. "I didn't ever wanna be forceful to saying, 'OK, I've made enough to get my own house and OK, let's blow it off and do whatever.'"

Beyonce watches in horror as devoted fan FAINTS when she hugs him during live concert

There are not many performers who can make their fans faint with excitement.

And it seemed he was unprepared for his moment of Destiny's Child love, for he ended up passing out after getting up close and personal with the 31-year-old.

It starts as the singer walks along a gangway while warbling a live rendition of her hit Irreplaceable.
And her mystery male fan, who is no doubt the new king of her 'BeyHive' of fans, immediately caught her eye due to the fact he was struggling to live up to the song's chorus.
She grabbed his hand, which caused him to gyrate manically as she sang the tune.
